Function and Application

 Fall Prevention : Effectively prevent construction workers, pedestrians around and objects from falling into the foundation pit, avoid accidental casualties and ensure the safety of people's lives. Isolation Warning : Separate the foundation pit construction area from the outside world to form an independent construction space. At the same time, through eye-catching colors and warning signs, remind people to pay attention to safety and prohibit non-construction personnel from entering the dangerous area.

Common Types

Mesh type foundation pit guardrail  : It is made by welding mesh and square tubes. The mesh is usually made of steel wire with a diameter of 3mm, and the mesh size is 50mm×50mm. The frame is made of square tubes with a diameter of 20mm×30mm, and the column is made of square steel with a diameter of 50mm×50mm. A 200mm wide baffle is set at the bottom.

Railing-type foundation pit guardrail : The frame is made of 20mm×30mm square steel, the inner vertical pipe is made of 20mm×20mm square steel, and the column can be selected from 50mm×50mm or 40mm×40mm square steel. Its overall structure is relatively simple, with vertical railings as the main protective components.

Vertical Pipe foundation pit Guardrail : It is entirely welded from vertical pipes, with a relatively compact overall structure and good protective performance.

Modular foundation pit Guardrail : Composed of multiple standardized components, it is convenient for installation and disassembly. Components are usually fixed by screw connection or plug-in connection.

Mobile foundation pit Guardrail: The bottom is equipped with rollers or pulleys, facilitating movement and position adjustment at the construction site.

Plug-in foundation pit Guardrail : All components are connected by plug-in method, making installation and disassembly very convenient.

Setting Requirements 

Height Requirements : When the depth of the foundation pit is ≥2 meters, guardrails must be set up. The total height of the guardrails should be ≥1.2 meters, with the upper crossbar being 1.2-1.5 meters above the ground and the lower crossbar being 0.3-0.6 meters above the ground.

Spacing Requirements : The center distance of the vertical poles should be no more than 2 meters. When the length of the horizontal poles exceeds 2 meters, railing posts must be added. There should be a spacing of no more than 20 centimeters between each railing.

Other requirements : The inner side of the column should be at least 0.5 meters away from the edge of the foundation pit. A close-mesh safety net should be set up throughout the height, and a 180mm high steel toe plate should be installed at the bottom. Night warning lights should be added in dangerous sections, with a spacing of no more than 15 meters.

Material selection

Steel : Such as Q235 steel, it features high strength and good durability. It is formed by MIG welding and its surface can be treated with plastic spraying. It has excellent anti-corrosion performance and can withstand considerable external forces. It is often used to make main structural components such as railings and columns.

Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) : It features excellent tensile strength and weather resistance, and is suitable for foundation pit guardrails in some special environments with high requirements for corrosion resistance and durability.

Installation and Maintenance

Installation Process : Firstly, based on the size of the foundation pit and safety requirements, precisely measure and mark the installation position of the foundation pit guardrail; Then drive the columns into the ground at the predetermined positions to ensure they are vertical and stable. Then connect the crossbars to the columns through bolts or welding to form a stable protective structure. Finally, install warning signs and night reflective strips on the foundation pit guardrails.

Maintenance Points : Regularly inspect the stability of the foundation pit guardrail to ensure there is no loosening or damage. Timely reinforce or replace the damaged parts. Clear the debris on the surface of the guardrail to keep it clean and visible. Inspect and repair the damaged protective nets to ensure their integrity and effectiveness.
